It still feels pretty wintery here in the mid west, but despite the dreary weather, I am determined to create bright and happy cards! Today's card is nearly one layer and full of rainbow goodness! I started by masking off the top and bottom of the card front, so I was just left with a center panel. Then, I created half inch stripes of rainbow using a variety of distress inks. My grid mat was a huge help here! I was able to line up the masks to the lines on my mat to get even stripes. The stripes looked a bit too perfect for me, so I decided to mist them using Studio Calico's Mr. Huey's in Opaque White and Blizzard. The Blizzard color is amazing! It adds just a bit of iridescent shine to the stripes and it's a perfect, more subtle alternative to glitter or Perfect Pearls. Misting is great, but I especially love to layer it over Distress Inks. Distress Inks react with water and begin to wick, or spread out, when misted creating even more varieties of colors. It's a great look!
With such a bold, bright card front, I needed a sentiment that would stand out and hold it's own. So, I chose "Just Saying Hello" from Lawn Fawn's Grand Greetings. This set rocks and is full of large scale sentiments. I heat embossed the sentiment in white. To finish everything off, and really drive home the rainbow concept, I layered some puffy clouds on the rainbow, using the Simon Says Stamp talk bubble die. I explain everything more in detail in the quick video I took of the process!
Thanks for reading today, and thanks to Jess for making this awesome card!
